McAfee not compatible with Window 7.  Need anti-virus software???
Windows 7 keeps warning me I need anti-software. I use MSN, and McAfee is included, except it will not download because of incompatiblity. (MSN downloaded fine and appears to work).

AVG or Avira Antivirus. Both work fine and both have free version or you can buy them.

OK, I found one, which is a trial version for Windows 7 and I don't have to pay for it (yet). But in the long run, MSN/Windows 7/McAfee developers need to make sure McAfee works.

I can't speak for MS but I've had decent luck with Forefront v1 and NOD32, which aren't on the MS approved list. Some people have had trouble with some of the AVs listed on the approved list so it is hard to say. http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/ - https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Aaron.Tiensivu - If you find my post helpful, please click on the "Post was helpful" option inside my post.

Thanks for all the replies, BUT, my point is, will McAfee be (eventually) compatible with Windows 7? McAfee is the AV provided as part of MSN subscription. It seems like this is something that needs to be considered. I put one of the free AV's on my system for the Beta.

McAfee is one of the AV programs used by the Department of Defense. I can almost guarantee McAfee will develop and provide a Windows 7 supported release. Now, when in the beta/RTM timeline they'll do that.....

The McAfee beta works well with Windows 7. I've been using it for a couple of months with various beta builds and now RC1.
